We are BYU

“We are BYU” was a student run show curated by Rocio Vasquez Cisneros and Alejandro Ramos at the B.F. Larson Gallery in Provo, UT. The purpose was to showcase women of color in the art department at Brigham Young University. In the year 2021, when this show was on display, there were only 14 women of color in the entirety of the art department, and only 8 chose to participate. This show gave us a platform to share our own stories in a safe space, amongst artists with similar stories and backgrounds. This was the first show I participated in where I finally felt like I had a right to be there.
